Now that’s a lobster pot
I got this pot to use for steaming lobsters. I only steam lobsters 2 times a year, so it won’t get a ton of use, but it worked great. Probably could have gotten a slightly smaller one and also done just fine (got the 44 qt one), but I may use it for other things throughout the year now that I have it like fry a turkey. The pot is nice and sturdy. The basket is great for steaming anything large (the holes are about 3/8″ or 1/2″). The top edge of the basket is a little rough when handling it. It is polished, so it isn’t particularly sharp or burred, but it would have been nice to have a rolled edge on there like the pot and lid. Because the basket is so big and heavy, just having that edge makes grabbing it from the top not feel great. Like I said, a rolled edge up there would feel better when holding and shifting the basket around from the top like when I am cleaning it. The basket does have a nice handle though. That is my only gripe and it is a minor one that I can live with if I have to but would prefer not to if I had the option.

This is great for boiling and steaming all kinds of things
Cooks half a sack of crawfish with taters and corn and whatnot added in. Enough space at the bottom to put water for steaming. Well made. I got it on sale, so the price was right, but I’ll be getting a bigger pot to cook a whole sack later. This is great for boiling and steaming all kinds of things. If you wanted to fry with it, it would cook a monster turkey. It’s well made and easy to clean, and it IS NOT aluminum. In case you didn’t know, aluminum is a neurotoxin that has been linked to Alzheimers. Get rid of your aluminum cookware. I can’t believe manufacturers still sell it. The colander is heavy when it is full. I use two hooks. One to get the handle, the other to hook in the bottom for pouring out the contents. It is easy that way. Do not angle it on the lid of the pot to drain the water without holding it. It will slip back in and splash you.Update 9/23/2020: Still loving my pot. I’ve boiled all kinds of seafood in it, and even steamed some lobster and crab. I’ve also fried 3 turkeys in it. Takes some effort to clean after using oil, but it’s worth it. So far no issues with leaking as others have experienced.

Great for home brewing!
Bought this when I first started home brewing some time ago. For the money, this is a fantastic deal if you are looking to get into brewing, and I’d definitely suggest the 44qt pot to start out with for 5gal batches with a full boil. Now, a little bit on the construction of this and how it’s held up over the past couple years:- The Stainless is of decent thickness, although mine had a couple of small dings when it arrived.- The handles are welded on my 44qt version, and I’ve had no concern about lifting up a pot that has 7 gallons of liquid in it.- After 30+ boils the bottom has shows some slight scorch marks from the burner, but that just may be attributed to my burner.- I haven’t used the basket that came with it yet, but it appears as if it’ll perform as it’s supposed to.If you’re using this for steaming or boiling, it’s a great pot that’s well constructed. If you’re using it for home brewing like I am, do yourself a favor and get a weldless fitting and spigot for it…it’ll make you life so much easier. They also sell a version that includes the spigot for those that would rather not DIY.

Perfect for Lowcountry Living
Love this pot (purchased the 44 qt size). The stainless steel finish is beautiful and I really like the “lip” just below the top edge of the pot that holds the basket off the bottom. The old school method for doing this is to add four bolts to the bottom of the basket to create the gap needed for steaming. Not the most elegant solution as the bolts pit the bottom of the pot, especially if it’s aluminum.I do agree with several reviews that point out that the bottom of the basket sits 3-4 inches off the bottom of the pot, but I don’t find this to be a big deal. The space is essential for steaming oysters and when cooking a Lowcountry Boil you just need to add a bit of extra water. I just finished a batch for 20 folks and I had plenty of room to fit everything (though I did add extra Old Bay to make sure the flavor wasn’t diluted).I would be curious to hear from people who purchased the 36 qt version to see if the gap between the bottom of the basket and the bottom of the pot is less.Bottom line is I really like this pot. Quality build, great design. Would buy again.

I purchased the pot in August, 2021 and used it only once to cook a big stew meal. The pot supposes to be made of a âhigh quality stainless steelâ. I could not believe my eyes, to see corrosive spots at the bottom of the pot! Just after one dish cooked. This is NOT a high quality stainless steel. I paid for it $348.89 (CAN).It is a total ârip-offâ!!
