This set of knives is really lovely. The quality appears to be reliable. Keep in mind that knives are quite sharp. However, you would anticipate that from a quality set. These are good for general personal use. Certainly a good value for the price.Knives were usably sharp, but benefitted from additional sharpening/honing in the sharpening slot built into the block.The blade is thin. If you need to make heavier cuts (like cutting through watermelon rinds), you can feel the blade flexing. Because the blade is thin, it is less comfortable to push against the back of the blade.If you just need a starter set, or have utilitarian expectations for the knives, this this is fine. If you want to make an long-term investment in your cooking experience, spend more — you’ll be happier.Given their affordability, they deserve more than 4 stars. But don’t expect them to be anything like the premium sets that sell for 5x up to even 30x this set!

Does the job
These have a striking similarity to a few other sets on Amazon, but they are more expensive and appear higher in the list according to Amazon’s algorithm. Key for me with this set was that it had the Santoku knife as well as the sharpener, which not all of them do.There are situations for virtually every knife. I like having a Santoku available because it’s just ever so slightly smaller than a chef’s knife. Between the two, virtually all of my knife needs are covered except the most delicate things, which usually go to a paring knife. Everything is as good as I can expect for a stamped knife set here.Once upon a time, these kinds of sets didn’t come with a knife block sharpener, but with a sharpening steel. Lots of people didn’t know what it was for or would just mimic what they saw on TV and just quickly whisk a blade a couple of times on each side to make the noise and go on their merry way. What always bothered me about sharpening steels is the angle is entirely dependent on your ability and knowledge. The included sharpener in the block of this set eliminates most challenges with sharpening. I don’t need to know the angle of the bevel the blades are sharpened at, nor to try to manually approximate that angle with a sharpening steel. I just slide the blade edge through the slot and rinse the knife and dry it.

My husband and i haven’t purchased our own knives set our whole marriage because we’ve always been gifted sets. However, they were always dull and never lasted. We were specifically looking for a knife set to purchase ourselves that was dishwasher safe. That was our main priority. So we were extremely pleasantly surprised to find that they were incredible to cut with. We were definitely missing out. They aren’t super bulky, they’re extremely comfortable to cut with, and easy to use. We’ll probably be buying additional sets in the future to gift to family members, we absolutely love them
