A Solid Set of Wet Stones
Maybe you are like me and got a hand-me down set of decent knifes but they happen to be dull. I bought this set as after learning a few things about stone grades. The set covers the full range in only four grades. Going from 400 to 1000, then 3000. Not sure I will use the 8000 but its certainly nice to have for polishing. So for folks know little about stone grades 400 is for very dull knifes to work in a new edge. 1000 will take you to a decent edge to cute the typical things like tomatoes. 3000-4000 will refine the edge a bit more. 6000-8000 will polish the edge. Also keep in mind that the quality of the metal will only go so far with these grades. Quality metal will work well across the range. most people could probably get by with the 400,1000,3000. Anyway, this kit is a great value. We get a nice range of wet stones, the leveling stone, and the knife guide. It also comes with bamboo base and rubber bottom for non slip sharpening sessions. Lastly, the both two sides stone come with a rubber holder which is a nice touch for placing into the bamboo base. I have only used a few times but overall seems to work well for my home kitchen purposes. The pros may go for more fancy branded stones, but I think this is great kit and value. Would recommend for basic home use. I am thinking something like this would be great for travel in a smaller size since every condo vacation rental I have gotten the knifes super dull.

Peaceful and Meditative Practice
I love using this to sharpen my kitchen knives. I find it very peaceful and meditative. The repetition of the motion also sharpens them very well. Very easy to do and difficult to mess up; but may take some time to sharpen several knives to your target sharpness. Inexpensive as well vs an electric sharpener.

Works
I finally realized that a stone works better than my old Presto, but it does take much longer.

Beginner level, great learning set.
I have had other experienced sharpeners say this is a waste of money. First of all sharpening is not an easy task, there is a learning process, on top of that my hands shake. It took me several attempts and some time to get the hang of just improving my knives. This set was what I needed, after this set I may desire to invest in a couple of Shaptons for $100+, but for now this is what I use to sharpen my kitchen knives. The little plastic guide is only good for scratching your knife. I finally used the flattening stone, it worked great.

Stone is good, ditch the angle guide
The stone works well, put a good sharp edge on my kitchen knives. The angle guide however scratched up a few of my knives, I trashed it half way through my knives and finished without it.

Very easy to use.

My first whetstone sharpener. Has a coarser grit for the initial sharpen, and a finer grit for finishing up. Took a set of old cuisinart knives from very dull to being able to slice paper thin tomatoes. Good value for money, and easy to use once you get the hang of it

Iâve only sued it a couple of times, but it seems to have done an excellent job of sharpening my knives. Just need to get better at using it. Itâs a great compact design, so fits in my bits and bobs drawer perfectly and it sticks to the work top well, so no movement as your trying to sharpen.
