It’s fantastic if you use it properly, if you use it improperly not so much…
I’ve been using these for years, and the cloth ones for decades. And I have to laugh at a lot of the poor reviews of this device. It is painfully obvious users are misusing the product and then giving it a poor review. So let’s start with some basics.#1. Silcone handle covers are meant to be used light a form fitted oven mitt. NOT a permanent piece of the handle. Slide it on, move the pan, slide it off. If you leave it ON the pan especially in the oven, it WILL get hot, and may likely melt a bit. Just don’t do that.#2. Silicone handle covers REDUCE heat transfer from the CI handle, they do NOT eliminate it. You may still want to wrap the handle a bit with a cloth to further reduce the heat transfer. Now having said that, I have a 10.5″ Outdoor Gourmet cast iron skillet I bought for camp cooking when I was single that my wife has absconded for the house… The handle is slightly different shape and size from the Lodge castings, so fit was a concern. And as expected, this cover is a bit loose on the handle, but does grip well, and he ribbed inside allows for heat to move away from the hand fairly efficiently. When used on the house stove, and / or camp stove, the cover stays cool while cooking even when left on. However do NOT use the handle while cooking in the oven or directly over the camp fire, remove and place back on as needed in those circumstances.Overall this replaced a Lodge cover that failed after years of use, and I can honestly say, this appears to be of roughly the same quality and usability of the Lodge unit. Just use it correctly and you’ll be fine.

Being âBasicâ is okay!!
I was hesitant to not just re-buy that other tried and (mostly) true, big name brand well known for their cast iron pans, but took a chance and went with another big name of Amazonâs âBasicsâ brand line simply because of the cost difference. What a happy surprise that this handle is of a decent thickness silicone on par with the other niche big brand. After trying fit on multiple sized handles, it obviously doesnât fit every pan handle like a glove because style variances of handles is to be expected. For each pan we tried (cast irons and all clad stainless skillets too), the area that does stay in contact on the handles has been plenty enough to stay in place with a firm grip and without much concern about any play in the non contact areas, again depending on pan selected.Overall, this generic handle cover is a fair comparison in both thickness and style of the silicone. Itâs been plenty durable for our light to moderate daily usage needs. For purposes of stress testing to decide if any more purchases, it has been tried on: both gas and electric stovetops from long simmering times up to hot stir frying temps. Itâs been unaffected and has held up well in the ovens for things like frittatas and some other higher temp dishes and finishings (not tried any broiler temps), but has also been used once on open campfire grill, and thus far, thereâs been no handle burns or any food losses to gravity! With the lesser costs, we plan to purchase more for the rest of our pans just for ease pan having one, and itâs visually nice to have a matching color âsetâ too. ð

Useful, not a universal fit …
I had to really struggle to fit this onto the cast iron skillet I have. It is a nontraditional skillet and has a much thicker handle than other skillets I considered buying. That said, it does what it is supposed to although the fit seems off and a bit funky.

Keeps the handle cool to the touch!
This product allows for a tight grip on my cast iron panâs handle and is a big help when lifting the pan out of the oven! Great product!

Works okay. Don’t fit well.
These handle covers don’t fit well. They move around a lot and tend to pull off too easily.

handle pot holder
It fits one of my skillets but not the other …it’s well made but limited to handle design

Nice
These arenât just good for a cast iron skillet, but are great to put on broom and vacuum handles to make holding them easier with carpal tunnel. Just slit the end so it will slide down on the broom where you need it

Handy
Cast iron is my favored pans to use. They hold heat and do not shed toxins like non-stick. The downside, hot handles. Enter this nifty silicone handle. It easily slips over the pan handle and allows you the ability to move the pan around or pull it from the oven without scorching your hand or using cloth and hoping you can get it moved before the heat pulls through the fabric and burns you anyway. It is easy to clean and easy to use. I have yet to end up with blistered knuckles or palm since I started using the handle to move the pans around so that is a win in my book. The price is acceptable, tho I tend to watch and wait till there is a sale of some sort, lowering the price more.I would recommend this silicone handle sleeve for any cast iron users. While not ‘necessary’ it sure is handy.

I have a $200.00 stainless fry pan which is wonderful but the handle is too slim. As the pan is heavy I cannot hold the pan up to empty it and fabric pot holders do not help. This silicon glove does the job justperfectly. Well worth the money.
Very nice ð –
Quality good
