Great, looking toaster, and easy to use
I really like the finish of this toaster. I like the styling, itâs a little bit retro but it fits in really well with the rest of my kitchen. The black goes really well with my black stainless steel refrigerator and black appliances. Itâs got buttons on it for bagels, defrosting, frozen bread and to cancel if your toast is done before it pops up. I especially like the button to cancel toasting. As sometimes I can see that itâs done before it pops up and this is a simple push of a button and up it comes. Iâve had it for a couple of hours but Iâve already toasted some bread in there, and it came out toasted very evenly. Thereâs a bit of a smell on the first burn, but that will go away as I use it more. The dials for how dark you want your toast have numbers and little click stops as you make the dial turn for darker or lighter, which is very cool and it lets you know exactly what setting you are on for each side. There are two slide out trays in the back of the toaster to get your crumbs out after you toast bread or bagels. I thought this toaster was reasonably priced and it sure looks great in my kitchen. Iâve just gotten it so I canât say how long it will last, but it looks like it is made to last a good long time.

Solid, durable, heavier & great toaster! We love this toaster, weâve had it 2 weeks & use it every day for breakfast. Knobs & slide down buttons are quality. Key was having slide in drawers for crumbs, love this. Our black & decker was cheaper, much lighter & had horrible drop down crumb holders that always fell open & spilled crumbs all over the counter/floor.

Sleek and Functional but Uneven Toasting
I love the sleek, almost kinda retro, sturdy design on this toaster, and its bagel and defrost options. I love that the buttons to push the bread down look like old typewriter buttons. It’s honestly one of the reasons I settled on this specific toaster.I tested all slots several times and with different settings and they seem to work great (also got rid of that plastic-y, manufacturer smell). However, when testing it’s functionality, it did not toast both sides of bread evenly. One side is toasted notably darker than the other. I used multiple slots during this test and each slice of bread (normal store bought white bread) toasted unevenly.That’s the only reason for the 4-star rating. Otherwise I love it!I’ve posted a video showing both sides in one test, and 2 images showing both sides of another test. They were toasted in separate slots. Maybe it’ll work out the more it’s used.

Toasters! Oh, for Crying Out loud.
Once upon a time I procured my first 4-slice toaster from an estate sale for about $5.00. It became my forever toaster, until it didnât. When one side stopped working I yearned to replace it.A nice looking Cuisnart CPT-142P1 caught my eye, and I promptly purchased it from Amazon. You must understand that I enjoy a bagel from time to time, and prefer it toasted like the local Bagel Shop toasts them. Well the Cuisnart toasts both sides of the bagel. So why does it have a bagel button on it? I can burn the back side of my bagels in the normal toaster mode just fine. So back it went.As my original toaster was a Kenmore it was decided to stick with a proven brand, what could go wrong? So off the order went for a Kenmore toaster. It toasted bagels properly; however it took 6 minutes whereas the old Kenmore did the job in 3 minutes. Come to find out it was slow in all modes. The elements didnât even seem to light up. Itâs a good thing Amazon loves returns. Off it went.Next I ordered an Amazon Basics 4-slice toaster. Iâve run the preliminary tests, and finally I think my new forever toaster has arrived. Wife loves this toaster. No more burnt toast. The timer on it is just about right. Even toast bagels and has a defrost on it. Very well made and easy to use. How hard can it be to use a toaster? LOL. Love it.

The five stars is because the price makes it good
For the money, Amazon Basics brand delivers a good product. The toaster is functional and is easy to use with good toasting results. That being said, it is not sturdy as other pricier brands and the levers to start toasting are quite fragile feeling. I have no complaints about its performance a few weeks in. Let’s see if it lasts.

Looks Great, Terrible Function
This is a 4-month review of this toaster. It looks awesome, but it fails as a toaster. The toaster doesn’t toast enough on a medium setting and you need to run the toast thru a second time. Bagels are a hot mess. I have to run my bagels thru 3-4 times to get a golden brown. Finally, when it is done toasting, the toast or bagels fail to pop up. The springs are strong enough and you have to move the lever up manually. At 4-months, I have started to look for a replacement. This toaster is not recommended.
