Didnât work
Not only did these not work to keep cake layers even, both layers had uneven lumpy looking tops mounded towards the middle with a crack. This is a cake I make regularly. It usually is slightly higher in middle which is why I wanted to try these. Waste of money IMHO

Perfect for layer cakes
These cake strips are ideal for baking layer cakes. They prevent the edges of the cake from baking too quickly and causing the center of the cake to dome. I assumed they had velcro to hold in place but they do not, it’s just a slip through a smaller strap and they hold very well. They fit around my 9″ Cuisinart pans with room to spare. You’ll need to remember to wet them when using as they arrive without any label.

Where are the instructions?
These straps are well made – thick, absorbent, high quality materials. No doubt they will be durable. They are also very long so they will fit on several different pan sizes. However, the pans will have to have straight sides as there is no way to tighten these straps around pans with slanted sides. My biggest complaint is that the straps did not come with instructions! I just looked at several online videos and everyone says cake straps should be soaked in cold water, and the excess water should be removed before wrapping them around pans. Since there are no instructions, I wonder if there is an oven temperature I should not exceed?
