Strong and well made
For a while now I have been using a large steel slotless spatula that I prefer to cook with for all kinds of food. I think it was originally designed to be used on a grill. So, when I saw the normal, kitchen sized version of my favorite spatula in this set, I had to get it. Plus, as a kind of bonus, I also got a slotted, almost identical version of the same one.They are made from an excellent grade of stainless steel with a very useful, sharp leading edge. This is probably my favorite part because when it is coupled with the strength of the steel, I am able to cut food against our cast iron griddle, on the fly, with ease.Anyway, both spatulas have a very strong and utilitarian design that have the feel and appearance of something that will last. The âtangâ of the steel extends 2 1/8 inches into the wooden handle with 1/4â rivets securely holding it in place. My old spatula has a plastic handle which may be a little more comfortable but also has the drawback of melting if it makes contact with something too hot. These wooden handles can possibly singe a little, but they can’t potentially leave melted plastic on pans. The wooden handles are also very comfortable, so it is worth it.As stated, I really like the solid surface spatula mostly because I can slide stuff like scrambled eggs onto it for removal from the pan where slotted ones will allow them to fall through. That being said however, the slotted one has its place when you need drainage.All things considered, I really like this spatula set.

My wife had a spatula for many years that she preferred for removing potsticker dumplings from pans. It had a plastic handle that eventually came off and I replaced it with a wooden one that I had made. This lasted for a few years until the attachment between the metal part of the handle and the flat of the “blade” self-destructed. I’ve bought various ones since then and she has never liked any of them as well as the one from nearly 40 years ago. So, when Vine suggested this one, I hoped that *maybe* it would *finally* “be the one”.INITIAL OBSERVATIONSThe manufacturing quality seems solid. The metal is thick and not particularly springy, but when it bends slightly, it returns to shape. It has a long taper to the edge, so I had high hopes that it would work well for her potsticker dumplings.COMPLAINTS / ISSUESThe first thing she noticed was that there was not a hole in the end of it to be able to hang it up. I don’t consider that to be much of an issue since I can drill a hole if I am so inclined. I did not bother pointing out to her that her old spatula that she liked so much also did not have a hole of hanging it up.I would have preferred that the metal part of the handle (tang) went the full length of the wooden part of the handle and that it had 3 rivets instead of just 2.IMPRESSIONSIt’s not a particular long spatula, but I have really long ones and they are cumbersome in some situations, so I think the length of this is good for our needs.The wood of the handle *looks* unfinished, but when I tried to treat it with mineral oil, it did not soak into the wood which probably means that there is some sort of sealant on the wood.When I cooked a batch of potsticker dumplings, they came out very easily for a change, so I did not get to see how well it worked for scraping them from the pan. For now, I’ll assume that this works acceptably, but if I find out different on a subsequent batch, I’ll revisit this review with my findings.CONCLUSIONThe product seems acceptable and it appears to meet all the specs in the ad. High quality, Nice looking, Super value.
These spatulas are really nice. I wish that I had found them a few months ago when I was looking for one spatula with long holes in it, for my husband, who fancies himself a chef. I searched and searched and ended up buying one at almost five times the price of this set. When this set came to my attention, I liked them even better, and I couldnât resist ordering. What I especially like about these, besides the good value that they are, is they are sized to work well in a variety of sizes of pans. They are proportioned well with regard to length and width of working surface as well as their overall length. And I love that they have wood handles. I will rub some oil onto the handles, though that is not actually necessary, it just keeps them from drying out over time. This set of spatulas fits virtually every purpose, are high quality, nice looking, and a super value.
