The cast iron Dutch oven is nice and level on the burner and I love being able to use the lid as a small fry pan too. Itâs heavy to lift as cast iron is, but a great pot.

Seems well made, but something stinks
I got this Dutch oven for roasting veggies, deep frying, and baking bread. This looks really solidly made, I havenât found any cracks, dents, dings, or weak spots. The walls are all even so when I heated it up there were no overly hot areas or cold spots. It also has good capacity and being able to flip the lid over and use that as a pan is an awesome feature.This was almost great, but there is one big issue, it reeks. It has this awful chemical smell that was so strong it gave me an instant headache when I opened the box it came in. I hoped that it was something else in the box, like the bag or the foam padding, but it was the Dutch oven that stank. I am pretty sure that the smell is from whatever coating they applied to âpreseasonâ it because the smell got a lot worse when I heated it up.Now I am stuck trying to figure out how to get rid of whatever it is coated in. So far I have scrubbed it, heated it up, and wiped it down with oil twice and it still has some smell. It has gotten a lot better though , so I think that if I do one or two more rounds of that, whatever was sprayed on there will be cleared off and it will be usable.Overall this is sturdy and well made, but whatever they coated it in smells terrible and I wonât be able to feel comfortable cooking with it until I can fix the issue. I am looking forward to being able to put it to good use because it works so well at heating evenly, but straight out of the box it is simply unusable with that stinky coating.The stand that it comes with is made out of a thick, very hard metal, but the coating on it does feel a little plasticky, so I am not sure if it is heat safe and what purpose it is supposed to serve. I couldnât really find anything to tell me what it was meant to be used for, but it is built to last so once I figure out what it is meant to do, I know I will be able to use it for a long time to come.
