I have had at least three can openers from different manufacturers of this type and they all stop working after a few years. The problem seems to be that they wear to the point where they do not slice the seal between the top and the can cylinder itself.I have not had this particular unit long enough to comment on its life expectancy.It is easy to use, and works just fine. I have other can openers, both electric and manual, but I prefer to use this one since it leaves the top usable as a cover. If you use less than a full can, like for pet food, it’s nice to be able to place the top back on and place it in the refrigerator.I have not tried it on odd shaped cans, although I expect it to work on these type cans. I have an excellent EZ Duz It “non safety” can opener which will open any can I have tried it on IF this unit will not work.This Starfrit unit opens cans easily with no drama and no mess. It is worth a few dollars more to avoid buying junk.

Freakishly easy to open
Canât believe Iâm writing a review for a can opener, but this really is so physically easy to use The first time I tried it, I was pretty sure nothing was happening because it was so easy to turn. (I donât have a lot of hand strength so manual can openers are usually difficult.) Was shocked when I used the tool to remove the lid and the whole thing popped off instantly and perfectly â no jagged edges or having to get a knife to pry it open. Super blown away. Kind of a game changer for can openers.

It can be hard to tell when it’s properly latched onto a can, but once it’s on just turn the knob on the top until you stop getting resistance and then remove from the can, clip the metal prongs on the side onto the lid, hold down the black button, and pull.It’s that simple, it’s safe, and it saves a ton of mess and effort. Older can-openers can be hard to turn, but this one is smooth like butter; even grandma can use it. There won’t be a single jagged edge nor will it fall into the can.This is my go-to can-opener whenever a friend asks me for my recommendation, and I hope it’s obvious why.
