I am delighted with the quality of design and workmanship of this piece. The convex design gives a lot of leeway for grating and is less tiring on my hands. All of the cutting and grating sides are razor-sharp with no burred edges. So far Iâve used it to grate whole nutmeg, zest a lemon, and shred brick Swiss and cheddar, and it made easy work of all. The convex design also allows for more volume inside. The handle is ergonomic and sturdy as is the rest of the piece. The rubber strip at the bottom keeps things steady and is easily removed and reinstalled if needed for cleaning. I found absolutely nothing to dislike about this piece. Tip: save the cardboard sleeve that ships with it. It makes for a handy protective safety cover for storage. A solid 5 stars on this purchase.

For years I have used a badly rusted hand grater and finally decided to buy a new one. After having an exceptional customer service experience with Spring Chef, I decided to replace my old grater with a new XL sized, stainless steel box grater that they sell.The grater arrives in easy to remove packaging and wrapped in plastic wrap. It is built very solidly. The handle feels very solid and strong. Itâs a bit bigger than I anticipated, but that is not a bad thing, and it should be able to grate up a lot of food before needing to be emptied. The picture of it I posted shows the grater next to a 24 ounce stainless steel tumbler for size comparison purposes. Like most box graters, it has different blades on each side for different types of food processing with a large grater, medium grater, zester, and slicer. The bottom of the grater has a rubber covering on the bottom that keeps the grater from sliding around while using it on a counter or plate. The covering is removable if desired for cleaning, although the grater is dishwasher safe. I donât think there should be need to remove the rubber ring much, if at all, to keep it clean. I used it to grate some sharp cheddar cheese this morning, and it was easy to clean up by hand.Overall, Iâm very pleased with this box grater. It is a welcome replacement for my old, rusty hand grater. Spring Chef has already demonstrated to me how well they stand behind their products, and I have no doubt they will stand equally well behind this one.

I love that this grater is very sturdy. I am still using this grater after almost 6 years. I dislike the rubber bottom because it holds water, it does come off, but the box grater still holds water where the metal is rolled on the bottom. I use this grater mostly for cheese, but I have shredded cabbage on it. I have also used the side to slice potatoes for scalloped potatoes.

So I found this excellent replacement that goes far beyond what the other box shredder did.I’d use caution while shredding because this box grater is super sharp. But I’m very disappointed in the height of this grater. I could store my old one upright on any of the shelves in my cabinet. However, this one is too tall. I wish it were just an inch shorter! As far as function, this grater is very sturdy and seems to be well made. So far I’ve just grated raw potatoes and hard cheese. Worked well for those. But practicality is just as important as function for me. And it’s not very practical to have a huge grater that I can’t conveniently store. Be sure to measure your storage space before you buy!!REVISED REVIEW 2/28/19: Spring Chef Brian Davis addressed my concerns swiftly and satisfactorily. I’m giving this item one more star based on the excellent customer service and the fact that this is a good, sturdy grater that worked very well on the cheese and raw potatoes that I’ve tried so far. Received grater one day after ordering. Wow! Fast shipping. This grater/slicer is heavy duty. Handle is smooth and easy to grip. This helps reduce hand fatigue. Bottom has a robust rubber lining that prevents the grater from sliding. Blades are sharp and allows less effort to shred or slice. The stainless steel prevents rust and it’s dishwasher safe. A plus in my book. Only change I’d like to see is at least 3 slicers on the side instead of just one. But, over all, I’m very happy with this grater which I recommend to others.

I received this cheesegrater today and it was bent and broken on arrivel. The packaging it had been sent in was wholly inadequate (just a plastic bag with no padding). The grater is not very strong and looking at it I dont think it would have lasted very long even if it had arrived in one piece. The handle had broken off as it is geld on only by two small spot welds on each side. Really not worth the money.
