    I wanted something heavy & sharp but…
I frankly wasn’t prepared for how beautiful this knife is; it’s a pleasure to hold & use. I use it mainly to cut frozen string beans to put in soup. I tend to keep my knives dull because I’m clumsy & tend to cut myself so a dull knife does less harm to me.The problem with that theory is, dull knives either don’t cut frozen string beans at all or, when I finally do succeed in cutting through the frozen string bean (as I apply more & more forearm & wrist strength) a suddenly severed section of string bean will oftentimes go shooting off the plate at high speed to either disappear entirely from this universe (so far as I can tell) or end up on the floor at least five feet away. So, something sharp and heavy seemed to be the answer. When I went to one good housewares store, all the knives had thin plastic handles with thin blades sharp as razors & I could see in my mind’s eye that there would be blood, my very own, soon to be seen amongst the string beans if I bought one of those deadly weapons lying in wait on the counter of that store. This knife is 1. heavy 2. sharp but 3. the blade is thick- not a razor. It’s a pleasure to use, because it’s heavy & sharp I don’t press down hardly at all & I don’t have to saw & I also haven’t bled once. Pieces of severed string beans are no longer flying out of the universe from my kitchen nor littering the floor. It also cuts meat well & tomatoes too. It’s a full tang knife; it’s a pleasure to use & to look at too as it sits there quietly beautiful.

    Great, sharp knife. Great price
Already my go-to knife. The knife has good heft, handle is substantial. Stays really sharp. I hone with almost every use and really enjoy effortlessly slicing thru tomatoes.

They are so sharp and well balanced
This is a sturdy knife so it cuts through items with ease. It is well balanced so it feels good in your hand. The edge is so sharp that it makes cuts easily. This is the second of four knives I have purchased as each one has made me want another.

    Heavy, sharp, quality craftsmanship
I bought these to replace a set of cheap, smaller pairing knives with fragile plastic handles which we wore out using them for everything – streak knives, pairing knives, dinner knives, cutting up raw chicken and raw vegetables, etc. These are extremely sharp and sturdy, and the craftsmanship is excellent. The hilt feels very good and solid in the hands. The drawback that I was not expecting but would have realized if I had paid more attention is that the hilt is very heavy. Almost too heavy, and with the light, thin, blade it means they are not well balanced. They still work well, especially for my bigger hands, but they can be a bit much for my wife’s smaller hands. For the price, they are an excellent buy.

    Tough and Sturdy
This knife has a sharp edge, is easy to use for cutting all sorts of things. Easy to store because it’s not huge, but it’s huge with sharpness! It’s versatile bc it can cut anything from meat to veggies and fruit. The grip is comfortable and the edge retention is nice

    quite good
i bough this by accident, meaning to get a 3 inch blade (this is 4). however it has found it’s best self in my kitchen. i use it much like a mini chef’s knife for quick work when countertop space is limited and at a premium (thanksgiving anyone?). makes it look like chopping veg on a paper plate is the best way to chop veg. the knife feels, looks, and performs beautifully. if they made knives in the size i wanted i would’ve definitely bought another knife from this brand. alas, they don’t.

    Sharp sharp sharp
This paring knife is great. It’s quite heavy, and the blade is very sharp. Haven’t had it for enough time to see long-term quality, but it definitely feels high quality so far.

    Nice, but…..
This is a really nice knife. All the other reviews are correct. The blade is 4.25″ long and 0.9375″ wide (deep). The handle varies from 4″ to 4.4375″ in length and its width varies from 0.5″ at the bolsters front to 0.625″ at their end – it is both blocky and bulky. The knife is large for a paring knife and small for a kitchen utility knife. Overall it looks well made and exhibits good craftsmanship throughout, but it’s size, weight and blockiness make it a bit awkward to hold. The steel is the same (X50 Cr Mo V15) as a $170 Wusthuf knife that I sent back for being too dainty. At the same time I purchased a Pocket Microscope (Carson 60-120x). There is a very small black spec on the middle of the blade (logo side). It will not clean up? Using this microscope I could clearly see a small pit in the blade with an even smaller dark triangle in the pit. There is rust staining in and around the pit. I’m not sure about this knife, but this pocket microscope ($15) is really good! Looking through it – the smooth flat blade is transformed into a sea of diagonal, left to right ridges, crossed by other diagonal right to left ridges – covering both sides of the blade with one small, shallow pit containing a particle of rusting iron.I like larger paring knives. My most utilized knife is an inexpensive ($12) OXO good grips pro 4″ paring knife; it has a large rubberized ergonomic handle that feels comfortable in my hand. As OXO has stopped making this knife; I’ve been looking to replace it, mine is now 9 + years old. I would like to like this Oaksware knife but I do not have a use for it. A rust spot on the logo side in the middle of the blade is like a flashing neon sign saying “Cheap”. 3 stars and it goes back.
