While it is hard to scratch, it is soft enough that it does not dull the edges on my chef’s knives. That is a problem with the occasional glass or stone cutting boards. As with any board, including wood, do avoid grinding at it when cutting with a serrated knife. Grooves from that always retain stains after use but a dishwasher clears most of that.The board has two sides. One is smooth while the other has a depressed gutter around the edge to ca[ture drippings when cutting meat. Most cutting boards slide on the counter when I cut tough foods and I usually need to put a dish cloth under them to prevent slippage. The OXO has a silicone strip wrapping around the short edges to provide grip and I no longer need the cloth.One rating above asks about thickness. The OXO is just under 1/4″ thick which is more than enough to support a heavy roast or turkey. I leave it to others to say whether that is thick or thin. The OXO is fairly light and I see no reason to recommend anything thicker/heavier.The OXO is also large enough for any task in my kitchen but I do not use it for everything. I do not have a lot of counter space and the OXO is about as large as I can easily clear out. I am hoping for and would buy any smaller version, say 60% scale, for breakfast/lunch/snacks.

I never realized the importance of a good cutting board until I got this one! The chanel catches any juices from running all over the counter and the rubber feet keep it steady. The surface is smooth so food doesn’t get stuck to it, it hasn’t gotten dyed, is fine in the dishwasher and hasn’t dulled my knives. And it’s big enough that I can cut a whole onion, zucchini, cucumber, carrot celery or whatever instead of having to do half at a time.

This thing is solid. Good for a two person household, more than enough for one person. I would not buy this if you are in need of a carving board as the juice channel is too small. I think it would leak if you are cutting a very juicy steak or who chicken. Makes for a great secondary board to prep raw meats though!It has enough room to comfortably butterfly and then pound two chicken breasts. The Channel for liquid is small but I am not using this as a carving board as I have a Boos Block as my main board. I keep my main board on bamboo risers and this is thin/light enough to fit underneath and to get out with no issues.I flip it over and use the back to cut veggies. It is very stable when cutting on either side.This cleans very well. Fits very easy into my modestly sized sink. It also fits my older dish washer as well, which is the main reason I went for this size. To make it easier to do a deep sanitizing clean every now and then.I do sometimes wish I had just a bit more room, but the next size up would be too big for my dish washer and since I am using this mostly for cutting raw meat, It was more important to me that it fit in the dish washer.

I love that the edges are made of rubber, it helps keep the cutting board in place while I am chopping. I also like that the cutting board has a well all the way around the inside edge. It collects the juices that may leek out of meat and prevents the juices from leaking onto the countertop under the cutting board. This is the 2nd time I bought this cutting board (only because my hubby damaged the first cutting board by setting it on a hot stove).

Good backup/meat cutting board
I’ve been wanting a second cutting board that was a bit smaller than our main board for some cooks that have a lot of ‘moving parts’, and this is a nice, affordable option. I read that plastic boards are a better choice for meats (though I’ve also read the opposite), but having a board that’s different than the wooden board makes it easy to say ‘meat/veggies’ at a glance. This also has a juice groove, which is handy when carving meat after it rests. It’s double-sided, so, if you’re feeling brave, you can do raw on one side and flip to do cooked on the other side (so I read) – but I wash it anyway. This can also go in the dishwasher, so that’s a nice thing for sanitizing after cutting raw meat. It’s working fine for my purposes so far.

THEY HAVE HELD UP WELL
This cutting board and its little brothers have held up well over time. While they are a little hard on knife blades, they have remained intact. The drain channels are a welcome feature when resting meat prior to slicing. Durable and affordable.
