    Great toaster, annoying Ding
The best toaster I’ve had in years. We are a large family and can go through appliances quickly. This one holds up very well. The Kitchaid brand never fails in my own. Browns toast perfectly to your liking. The only thing i do NOT like about this toaster, is the fact that it dings really loudly when it’s done. I certainly can go without that, especially with as much toast as we make.

    Versatile Toaster
This is an attractive appliance. You can toast one to four slices at a time. The bagel setting toasts one side of the bagel, if desired. Toasting seems slightly slow. Does not take oversize bread.

    Neat and functional
Had one of these for almost 10 years before one side had a sensor failure, so after limping along with one set of slots for a while we decided to try a Cuisinart. Bad idea! Bagel function was useless, so we sent that back and got another KitchenAid. Everything works just as well as our older toaster and the cat is happy to hear the old familiar alert that tells him someone might be using butter!

    It makes things toasty!
My only complaint would be the pre-pop-up alert sound…not great for people with sensory issues or weak bladders. It toasts bread and bagels beautifully.

    Guess I got a lemon – corrected!
The other day I wrote the negative review below – I apologize!! spoke with KitchenAid and they were GREAT! It was my fault so please ignore my earlier comments. I will continue to evaluate the toaster, but with a change my opinion has reversed! Sorry!I did, as I always do, due diligence before purchasing this toaster. Good reviews, good name, fair price, etc.The toaster is a joke – I’ve had it for a week, tried all the settings, used it for toast and bagels and it’s junk. The final straw was an hour ago – another bagel, inserted per the directions, and one half gets toasted and the other doesn’t.Sadly I don’t have the time to send it back right now, but I’ll sure be thinking about it for a while. We got a new one to replace a two slice toaster, and I’m now sorry we gave the other one away.

    THREE STARS FOR EFFORT…
… but not much more. We’ve tried so hard to like this toaster, but it’s simply not living up to expectations. Here, as succinctly as possible, are the reasons for but 3 stars: 1. KitchenAid evidently paid close attention to style, but missed on a couple points, the foremost being size… it sits out from our counter back wall far more than we’d supposed. Part of the problem is the electric cord which is as large and round as my little finger and would do justice to a 10″ table saw. 2. It toasts verrrrrrrry slowly. Why? Probably ‘cuz the wires hardly change color. Even in the dark it’s hard to see them turn orange. Translation: Your bread dries out before it toasts. 3. It’s toasting is inconsistent; put 2 slices of bread in and you get 4 sides, or attempts, at toast. 4. The ungodly sound it makes when it’s “finished” scares our dog; it can’t be silenced, either. 5. The high-lift feature is not “high” enough; you’ll burn your fingers trying to remove something the size of a biscuit. 6. Toast is often impossible to get out easily as it “catches” on the outcropping ridge on the way up. Finally, you’ll spend a great deal of time with a microfiber cloth cleaning the front of the unit because it’s impossible to handle the buttons and such without touching the outer or top surfaces.All-in-all, this has been a disappointing purchase, especially given the price. I suspect it’s on its way to Goodwill once we’ve found a suitable replacement.

This toaster looks exactly like it does in the picture. It has 6 darkness settings, but on the minimum setting, it toasts bread quite dark. At the second setting, bread is burnt. To put the bread down, you have to press the lever down pretty hard or it will not stay down. There is a cancel button and bagel button which I like. Not the worst toaster I’ve ever had, but I’d rate it just okay for the money.

Detect toaster but setting 1 is too low and setting 2 is too much. Have to use setting 1 twice but stop it manually half way thru the second round. Have burnt many slices of toast…

Works fine. Levers to push down toast are quite stiff.

Worst toaster I’ve ever used (not that I’ve used a huge range of toasters). The Cuisinart 4 slice toaster is much better because it actually toasts on both sides.
