Convenient and well designed
My husband and I love picnics, camping, etc. But last time we went camping, we realized we hadn’t remembered any method for heating water that didn’t involve the lengthy process of building a campfire. We also got a picnic tea set which is great fun but requires heating up water in advance and hoping it hasn’t cooled too much in the thermos by the time we get somewhere.So I was thrilled to see this option. The variable temperatures are perfect for different kinds of tea, or for boiling water for easy camp meals. The controls are easy to learn and don’t require returning to the manual to figure out later. I will note that there seems to be a small typo in the manual that suggests the temp scale is Formula>Warm>Boil> and THEN Hot, when in fact Boil is the highest setting, understandably.It doesn’t take long to heat up, and the steam vent cap (the interior cap with the * shaped slots) does an amazing job at releasing pressure without letting out water, even if the thermos is flipped over. The whole thing feels well designed and like real thought and consideration went into it. I wish it didn’t have to use a traditional wall plug adapter, but I understand the power requirements may prohibit something smaller like USB-C or battery. This is pretty easily overcome with the converter outlet in our car. Overall, I am very pleased with it.

This portable kettle is meant for our camper, so I can boil water for my wife’s coffee and also make hot water for my tea. It’s not camping season yet, but I did use this at home to make my hot tea. Overall, the kettle looks nice, it doesn’t look cheap, and it seems well made. The front touchscreen interface is straightforward and easy to operate. It holds about 20 ounces of water to the max fill line (which is marked on the inside in Chinese, but the manual indicates what it is for).There are four preset temperatures (in Fahrenheit): 98, 140, 195, and 208. You can only select these preset temperatures, there is not a way to choose another temperature setting. There are two buttons on the control panel, one to cycle through these 4 presets, and a cancel button. The middle of the panel shows the preset as P1, P2, P3, or P4. When you turn on the heating, a half circle illuminates in red while the heating is happening, and one of four icons lights up to indicate the preset temp. When it reaches the preset temp, a blue half circle lights up, and the kettle automatically selects P2 as a keep warm function (for up to 8 hours). I believe there is an error in the manual, it has P3 labeled as 195F – Boil and P4 as 208F – Hot. I think the labels are swapped, obviously 208F is closer to boil that 195F.When I used this to make my tea, it took about 5 minutes to heat 18 ounces of water to 195. This is about twice the time my non-portable electric kettle takes to heat twice as much water, so this one is pretty slow. It’s not surprising, the base of this is small so it can’t hold a large electric heating element. This is the tradeoff for portability. The included cap allowed the air to escape as the water heated up, so you can use this while closed to prevent spills and accidents, which I like. The included cord is long enough, and I like that it has a cup included (although it is really tiny).What I didn’t like are the presets. For making green tea, there isn’t a good setting to use. 140 is far too cool, but the next setting, 195, is too hot and led to my tea being scalded. If the central display would show a temperature while heating, then I could use 195 and just cancel it early, but unfortunately there is no real time temperature display, which is another miss.Overall, this is a good portable kettle, and we will enjoy using this in the camper. Just be aware of the presets and decide if these temps will work for you.
