A BEAUTIFUL French Press! Something you want to leave sitting out. Works well.
Letâs face it. To an extent, most French press coffee makers are fundamentally the same. They have the container (usually borosilicate glass with an outer holder) and the plunger with the filter screen(s) and the spring style ring around the edge to keep the grounds out of the coffee. Various presses will have one, two or three fine mesh screens, and some presses will boast of a dual-layer borosilicate glass container to keep your coffee hotter. This press has two screens and an absolutely beautiful outer metal holder for the glass. The wooden handle adds to the beauty and is easy and safe to hold. As for the screens, I have another press with only one screen and I learned a long time ago keeping grinds out of your cup is just as much about your technique as anything else, so the two screens are plenty. As for heat, I have found this French press produces hotter coffee after a nine-minute brew than my drip coffee maker*.*I have been trying various brew methods, and they all produce slightly different results. The 9-minute idea comes from James Hoffmannâs highly rated âThe Ultimate French Press Techniqueâ which you can easily find online, which is:1: 30 grams medium coarse coffee to 500 ml water (I use less grounds for a weaker, but still full bodied brew)2: Leave for 4 minutes3: Mix a bit so the grounds fall to the bottom and then scoop out the foam.4: Let it rest for another 5 minutes5: Carefully pour through the filter, which is set just on top of the water, WITHOUT PLUNGING so as to not stir up everything. There are of course other more standard methods, but this one does make a good cup of coffee. Experiment! The only hard part about a French press is going to be cleaning out the grounds, as you canât dump grounds into your sink. I often fill the press with water, rinsing off the plunger in the process, and then swirl it out into my compost bin. If Iâm not composting, I will pour it out through a reusable coffee filter (from my drip coffee maker) and then scrape it out from the filter into the trash. This annoyance is going to be the same for all French presses. Iâve had no issues with grinds getting caught in the filter of this press, so Iâm happy. I can then clean the press with a bit of soapy water, pushing the plunger through the water a couple of times to clean the oils off the plunger.Overall, I love the press. Itâs just beautiful. Definitely recommended!

Excellent French press!
I’ve been mainly using the pour-over method for my coffee for over a decade, but I’ve been wanting to branch out and try different brewing techniques. I have recently tried a French press out that was included in a gift box- but the press was tiny, low quality, and broke on the third use. It was enough to perk my interest in a press even more, so I chose this French press for a better piece of equipment. This French press excels in all of the areas where the first one failed. The screen fits perfectly into the jug, and thoroughly filters out the grinds. The metal mesh screens appear durable and sturdy, and I like that the screens are replaceable if needed. It doesn’t have plastic on the filter screens, and I prefer to keep plastic away from hot liquids that I drink. The jug is durable borosilicate glass, and capable of handling sudden temperature changes. The silky smooth wooden handle stays cool and makes using this press much more comfortable than my last one.The plunger operates smoothly and completely, and in all of my usage of this press I haven’t had any grinds escape. This press is easy to clean, and the usage instructions are very thorough and clear. The difference in flavor of coffees made with this French press and my usual pour-over is quite distinct. This press gives a smoother and richer brew, and the individual notes of coffee shine through more when made with this press. It’s comparable to eating a good cheese straight from the frige versus letting it warm to room temperature to bring out the subtle flavor layers. My pour-over system is fine for brewing the average store bought coffees in large batches for my daily guzzling, but this French press is optimal for enjoyment of fancier coffees and freshly ground beans.Though I don’t have a lot of experience with French presses, I do have plenty of experience with kitchen tools in general and can assess quality when I see it- this French press meets my expectations, and it has the features and design that I look for in my quest for optimal quality, function, and performance.Home Hero French Press Coffee Maker – 34 oz Coffee Press with Bamboo Wood Handle, Heat Resistant Thick Borosilicate Glass French Presses, 4 Layer Filter, French Press Stainless Steel (Black
