Beautiful and functional dinnerware set
I’ve been trying to slowly get rid of all of our plastic dinnerware for health and practical reasons (not safe to microwave). So this stoneware set looked like a great addition at a good price, and turns it, it is.First, the package arrived well protected with cardboard inserts and foam cutouts to protect all of the items – nothing worse than opening up a set of dishes to find one or more cracked or broken. The set comes with 12 pieces, four each of a dinner plate (10.5″ diameter), small plate (8″ diameter), and cereal bowl (a little less than 6″ diameter). The plates all lay flat so they easily stack on top of each other in your cupboard. The look and feel is stunning: the color is described as “starry blue” and that’s apt – it’s a pretty shade of blue/grey with speckles and brown rimming for each plate and bowl. Definitely elegant looking and eye catching. Each piece is really solid and the glazing is excellent as well, didn’t find any bumps or other imperfections. Due to the shape of the bowl, stacking them doesn’t really save any space but I don’t care, they are much too attractive to hide away due to storage concerns. Being stoneware, these are also microwave and dishwasher safe, and according to the listing, lead and cadmium free.I included a couple of pictures of the stoneware, including a closeup, but they are even nicer looking in person. Very pleased with the quality of this set.

Very decent stoneware, heavy, but not perfect
Received my new set of stoneware dishes today and have to say I’m very impressed. Picking up the box off the porch immediately made me aware of the weight – They are heavy! Just what I would expect from stoneware. You will notice that in the close up photo, I found one imperfection that was fairly noticeable – it doesn’t bother me though because my dishes I am replacing for these are anything but perfect and perfection is not something I seek. I can find beauty in the faults as well as the glossy finishes. Even though I have a very nice dishwasher, I hand wash everything because I live alone and it doesn’t take a lot of my time. I do worry though about the bowls. With my previous dishes, the bowls stacked nicely inside each other. As I was stacking these to remove them from the table where I took the video, it was clearly obvious I could NOT trust that these would not fall if I tried carrying them stacked to the kitchen. Also curious to see how they do with a bowl of cereal. Let me test that now — I think it’s pretty clear from the photos that the old bowl will hold more, but fortunately, the new bowl holds the amount that I might normally eat and it tasted just as good! The real test of course is how long they will last. I will be 70 next month and so I doubt I’ll be around 25 years from now to see if they lasted as long as my previous set… Still I can highly recommend them, blemishes and all.

Reminiscent of Handmade Dinnerware w/Modern Manufacturing
This stoneware set is modern, yet classic. Each piece has substantial weight to it. They will definitely stay put on your table. On the bottom are two concentric circles that create an anti-slip surface. The set is made of clay, and with the glaze that covers them, they are reminiscent of handmade dinnerware from the past, which really adds a nice ambiance to the table. They are casual enough for everyday, yet can be used for a more formal dinner as well. For me, they are designed with an old-fashioned feel, yet all material, including the glaze is of modern high quality material and high quality manufacturing. They do clean up well, and although they are dishwasher safe, until I get a better feel for them, I am hand-washing mine. I will come back to edit this part as time will tell the quality, but I expect the quality to be high. They look and feel heavy duty. They are well-packaged, and all items arrived unscathed, in perfect condition. Overall, I am really excited about having a complete, beautiful set of dinnerware, and the price is extremely low for the beauty and quality that this dinnerware shows off.

Simple and attractive stoneware. Thick, as stoneware tends to be, and heavy. Definitely heavy! The glaze is even. They aren’t made to perfection. A few of my plates definitely had minor flaws that would annoy an artist type, but suit me well. I don’t like things to look mass manufactured. I think they make a very pretty table, especially on a gold tablecloth. They call it “starry blue”; it reminds me a little of camping enamelware in blue, which is a pattern I like. The bowls are very sturdy and hold plenty. They are more cereal bowls than soup or pasta bowls, obviously, but again, this is an everyday set, not formal. They are dishwasher and microwave safe, but I wouldn’t heat them in the oven. I don’t have a plate warming drawer in my kitchen, more’s the pity, so I can’t tell you if they can be heated in that fashion, but personally I wouldn’t. If you watch the video, you’ll see that I focus in on the upwardly curved lip. A lot of dishes nowadays have that feature, and it definitely does help keep food contained upon the plate. However, it can be a pain when you’re trying to get the dishes in the dishwasher. dishwashers for the most part are built for flat plates, not slightly bowled ones, so please take that into account when considering your needs and your own dishwasher. I can make it work in mine because it’s a bit older and the prongs are a little further apart. A good set.
