I’ve always been a fan of Mikasa and this 40-piece dish ware set doesn’t disappoint. It’s charming and stylish with clean lines, a shiny, white gloss finish, and the refinement of lightweight bone china. I didn’t expect to like these dishes as much as I do since I typically gravitate towards stoneware that looks more natural/handmade. This set makes me feel like a cultivated grown-up. And it makes every meal I plate look polished and sumptuous. It’s so reasonably priced for a service for 8.Two issue: the Mikasa logo on the bottom of the smaller fruit bowls is smeared and coming off. This isn’t happening to any of the plates, the cereal bowls, or the mugs. Only the small fruit bowls. It’s odd and maybe the imprint on these small bowls wasn’t tempered/done properly. I’ll still use the bowls, but it is disappointing that the logo is fading in less than a month of use. Also, one of my cereal bowls is chipped. I did it, when putting the bowl away, I hit the edge of my wood cabinet. But I had another Mikasa dish-ware set that was a heavier stoneware, for over 10 years, and it never chipped once with a lot of heavy usage. So just know these dishes are more delicate and are not as chip-resistant as promoted.

Lovely set, lovely seller
These plates are REALLY nice. Understated, classy. But they arrived in a box that clearly had road rash on it. It was also sitting at the end of my driveway rather than on my porch and it look like that’s where it fell out of the driver’s hands and he/she decided to just leave it there, probably out of frustration after walking down my 200′ long, very steep driveway with a very heavy box. Still . . . not cool.Anyway, two plates were broken (amazing that everything else survived). Mikasa replaced them in a very simple process. The replacements arrived very quickly and very well packaged. By the way, all the originals were packaged well, too. But there was no packaging that was going to compensate for the abuse that the box obviously received.
