Knives were nice and sharp out of the box and have stayed sharp though the time I’ve been using them. Although not long, they look great and feel great in my hand. They also clean very easily, keeping the blades nice and tidy!

I purchased this because I find the Henckels brand to be outstanding and the biggest selling point for me was the self-sharpening feature. While there are a lot of other brands out there to choose from, I always prefer this brand and always find them to be superior. I wanted to upgrade my knives and had a really tough time deciding on whether to go with the 20 piece or the smaller set. I ultimately decided on the 20 piece since I do a lot of cutting when I start canning and a really good set of knives is a must. Decided not to go by price but by what I would need. I am so glad I did, they came the next day and I cut up chicken and beef to put in the freezer and it was a breeze. They are so sharp it has been like cutting meat with a butter knife! Will definitely have to be extra careful!
The block is huge compared to my old set and I had to move things around on the counter to accommodate it. The knives and the block have a sleek appearance and the knives are easy to hold and cut with. Would definitely recommend purchasing!
I did warn my husband that he is NOT allowed to use the new knives for anything other than food related preparation! Contrary to his belief, they are NOT tools! lol

Wonderful knives.
These are great knives. I have been wanting a full set for a long time and finally decided to go for it. The base sits well on the counter. It is stable and doesnât move around at all. I am very pleased with the quality and balance of these knives and they have and keep a nice edge. I wash them in the dishwasher in the 3rd rack where they donât get up next to other things and Iâve been pleased about how they wash up. I am especially happy with the serrated utility knife. I can cut veggies and fruits including soft ones like tomatoes as thin as a mandoline would. As someone who eats a ton of fruits and veggies this is so very useful. I can see these lasting for a very long time. I highly recommend this set to anyone looking for a moderately priced and high quality set.

Great knife set but REALLY dirty upon unpacking
This is a great knife set. The self-sharpening wood block holder is an excellent addition. This is our second Henckles knife set and the first one lasted us 20+ years, so overall they make a very good quality product. The knives themselves are a very high craftsmanship, and the handles are easy to hold, they are nice and balanced, and good and sturdy. My only complaint is that the wood block holder was absolutely filthy dirty inside each knife slot. It took me several times with compressed gas duster to clean out the compartments. And the amount of dust that was coming out was absurd. For the price and quality of this product you should not have to spend 30+ minutes cleaning the holder. They need to do a better job on that.

I begged my wife not to wash these in the dishwasher!
Weâve been using the knife set we got from Chicago Cutlery as a wedding gift for the last 22 years. We made a decision together that we were just going to wash them in the dishwasher for the sake of ease.
For the last 7 years we have had several of the wooden handles held in place with rubber bands to keep the knives functional, and I have to sharpen them soooooo often. We finally decided to get some new knives so I ordered some fine Damascus steel ones from Amazon which turned out to be some cheap knives with a Damascus-like etching on them. I returned them and my wife said we needed to go to a nice store like Sur La Tab so she could really examine the knives before we got them. Then Covid hit. So we replaced the rubber bands and kept using the old wooden handled Chicago Cutlery set we had been dishwashing.
I finally got fed up and ordered these. Luckily we have a good idea of which knives we like now, so I didnât get the one with all the pieces we didnât need. We have one expensive Henckels knife that is very heavy. We donât use it because it is so heavy.
These have a good heft, but are not so heavy we wonât use them. One reviewer commented that the difference in heft indicates that these are not made in Germany, but I prefer the balance of these. I havenât had them for long but they seem like a really nice set. One might think that anything would be better than the broken ones weâve been using, but remember, I returned those crappy âDamascusâ ones.
I recommend these. If that changes Iâll revise the review. Now all I have to do is convince my wife not to wash these in the dishwasherâ¦.

After carefully unboxing the Statement from its box, the first thing you notice is just how big and imposing it looks sat on my new kitchen worktop. It’s massive! The icing on the cake is when you load the block with all the blades, the photos don’t do it any justice!! The Statement, it just looks special! Every one of the knives are beautifully crafted and balanced very well. The Santoku knife (like all the blades), it is a heavy lump with a chunky handle cladding a single piece of steel. The easiest way I can describe the Statement is that your visual perception of it goes from looking a bare knuckle fighter to a seasoned boxer who is light, precise and controlled! The blades are a joy to use and effortless, delivering the perfect cut time after time. The block does an amazing job of keeping the knives sharp too. The Henckels Statement really lives up to its name and is easily the best value for money I’ve spent in a very long time!!!
