First impression: i had been eyeing this French Chef knife for over a year. As I have always been partial to the Rada brandQuality of materials: 9 /10.Ergonomics: 7/10Pros: affordable, very simple and sleek design, easy to sharpen and keep sharp.Cons: not the most comfortable chef knife I have ever used.Would I recommend this product: Yes.Final Thoughts: I absolutely love Rada. My father swore by these knives growing up and they are sturdy and reliable. With that said I personally do not use this knife as much as i thought i would. The blade feels too large and thin and it is just was not what i was hoping for when I bought it. It would be perfect if the blade was just a bit smaller. Honestly, I would still recommend this knife as they are built to last and at the end of the day they are sharp and will get the job done for years.

Most home chefs are cooking snobs who would look down on this brand. Don’t. I cook every day. I don’t just cook, I make wonderful food as I’m retired and it’s sort of a hobby. I have many knives at my disposal including several chef knives, and this particular chef knife gets used the most. For most tasks I reach for the Rada. It wasn’t always that way, but it is now. For example, when making a tossed salad it’s the perfect slicing and chopping knife, there is no better knife for that task. It makes precision slices of tomatoes and every other veggie. It’s a very thin blade which I love. Thin but sturdy. The blade geometry is interesting, robust near the front where it counts. I used it to carve several turkeys this Thanksgiving. It’s not a carving knife, but I knew it would be great for that, and it was. I used to use the Rada sharpener, but it takes off too much metal. To keep it sharp I use the Smith’s CCKS 2-Step Knife Sharpener, primarily the ceramic side. It’s around $4 and works perfectly with this knife. The thinness of the blade allows it to be re-sharpened easily and almost new again. I would say the only thing it’s not great for is heavy duty chopping such as raw carrots, it’s too light for that in my opinion. It will get the job done, but I use a white handle santoku for that.I prefer the plastic handle, but I’m sure the metal handle is fine as well. Someday I’ll try the metal, but that will be when the two I have break. In other words, not for a long time. They are very durable, and have held up to years of dishwasher use with no problem. Made in the USA to boot. They’re not expensive steel, but they’re not junk you find at the Wmart either. Buy just one, even if you are skeptical. I think you will keep it in your rotation. It’s also super sharp when you first get it so be mindful of that.

Here is my tip: You can make a protective sheath for this knife. It comes in a cardboard sheaf in a plastic bag. I shortened the bag and form fitted it to the cardboard sheaf and taped it with clear packing tape so the plastic stayed on the cardboard sheaf. This keeps the knives safe and protected from other utensils in your drawer.I really like the sharpness and the feel of this knife, and am happy it’s made in the USA. I didn’t realize it, but I never had a “good” knife before. A good friend who was helping me cook commented that none of my knives worked very efficiently for her. She had no specific suggestions except for a curved chef knife. Naturally I looked on Amazon. I just ordered another one of these for a friend.I got one made by Chicago Cutlery for about the same price, and I think the quality is equal. Maybe that blade is heavier a little bit. I kept this one partly because the Chicago one came in a plastic sheaf that seemed useful but made marks on the knife, which I think are harmless, but I didn’t like it. I also like that this is made in the USA. I just liked it better.Very sharp. Feels very good in the hand. I bought a Rada sharpener separately; it’s very compact and works well. Other reviewers suggest a whetstone. Wow. I have to be honest; considering the price of this knife I was expecting garbage. I was incredibly, pleasantly surprised. I think the difference must be the level of quality that is Made in U.S.A. If this were a Chinese-made knife at this price point (or even higher) it would have performed terribly. I’m not a chef, but I am an ambitious and zealous home cook who has gone through a variety of blades. The Rada French Chefs knife has a great edge, great weigh (not too heavy, not too light), good handle and grip, good point for some precision cuts, good heel for chopping and dicing, etc.Not to mention this knife comes with a Lifetime Guarantee. I’m really not sure how Rada is doing it, but however they are keeping their prices so low, their quality so high, and their manufacturing domestic, I wish more companies could pick up on.If you want a knife that is not a bank-breaking Japanese steel, but is wonderful for everyday use in a wide range of recipe applications, you can’t go wrong here. I plan on getting a whole range from Rada, and I’m sure I’ll be pleasantly surprised by their quality again.

Sharp chefs knife – slices evenly, light weight. However, the balance feels *off* to me? Thin handle gives this an odd, uncomfortable feel. May just be me? Return date has expired so I guess its mine. Some things take a bit more time to determine if they work for you or not. Nice knife – just not quite the one for me. I may have to gift this.

I had bought several knives when I used to go to the markets in Yuma. I just luv this chef knife! I was so happy to see I could order them on Amazon! I bought another one for me and took me old one to our cabin. The second one I ordered I gave to my daughter because whenever I was there, her kvives were so dull.

I can’t give this knife any more stars than 3 due the resin handle’s poor finish. The knife is very sharp and will touch-up nicely using the Rada sharpener, which I love, by the way. The handle has what I consider to be sharp edges which make it uncomfortable to use. I don’t see any excuse for this lazily finished handle. (See attached photos.) I can’t recommend this knife as there are lots of knives available without the above mentioned issues.
