An innovation in microwave technology
It’s a genius innovation. When cooking is done, you lift the lid to the roof of the microwave and magnets stick it to the roof. The magnets have caused no issues with the microwave running.Our previous cover was glass, which was easy to clean, but I like the steam vents built into this one. The heat is retained but doesn’t create a trap for pressure to suction onto plates or bowls.It is recommended not to microwave with the cover stuck to the top of the microwave. I haven’t tried, but I imagine it might create a hot spot that could damage the magnets since they aren’t spinning. Sticking the cover to the room makes it easy to use since it takes away that extra step of taking out the cover or dangerously taking it with you.

The circumference of the cover is enough for a standard plate, but not tall enough for a soup plate or small bowl, however, still helps to prevent splattering.Cleaning is easy. So far, the food stuck to it is easily washed away with a mild dishwasher and sponge under running water.The magnetic top is very useful. However, the magnet is a little weak. It barely holds the cover up there.

Our old splatter guard was one of those collapsible ones that can either be laid on top of a bowl, or expanded to cover a plate. I liked that it had that option but honestly, over time it got to where you’d try to put it on the roof of the microwave interior and remove your dish, and it would just fall into it. Not only that, the plastic seemed to have absorbed a lot of stains.I can’t speak to the durability of this product yet, having only just received it but I’m happy with it so far.It attaches to the microwave in a sturdy way, and it covers the dish to keep the entire microwave from getting splattered.It’s just basic, but good. If I find as time goes on that it doesn’t do the job and hold up well, I will update my review!

small handle makes it slightly akward to use
My microwave doesn’t have a perfectly flat top but I was able to find a place to stick the cover and it stays decently well, although the magnetic attraction is not very strong. As far as the actual splatter cover functionality, it works really well and has plenty of ventilation to let steam out both above and below. It sits a little higher over my plate than my other cover which helps prevent it from touching your food.My only real complaint is that there is almost no handle to grasp it. You have to grab it with your finger tips and this is awkward when it’s hot and weighed down from condensed water from use. Because it has to be flat on top for the magnets to work, this is a design sacrifice, but they could have made it easier to handle it by using side handles.

This snaps right up on the roof of the microwave, so it is always handy. I used to have a similar cover, but it broke, so I’ve been trying to locate a similar one and finally found it. I also recently replaced my microwave for a lower profile over the stove one, I needed the space between the stove top and the microwave. My mom has a similar one, so after using hers a few times, I decided it wasn’t going to be too short. I was worried about this being in the way, but it works just fine for plates and most regular sized bowls. I do have to pull it out and place it on top of taller bowls, but I did have to do that with the regular sized microwave too. Easy to wash, I usually give it a quick handwash in the sink while I’m cleaning out the microwave, which takes next to no time with this catching all the splatters. It does go in the dishwasher on the top shelf too, but I usually fill that pretty quickly and it’s no trouble to clean this. I do let it air dry in the dishrack, and it’s held up great so far. So much better, I just have to give a quick wipe to the microwave for cleaning now, no more scrubbing.

This has been a great cover for covering our food in the microwave. We are a neurodivergent household so sometimes having something attached makes it easier to remember to use & having this cover inside our microwave has helped all of us (husband & kids included) finally remember to cover their food so it doesn’t splatter all over the microwave! It’s also easy to take out & rinse clean!We failed to realize that the top of the inside of our microwave isn’t flat so the magnets don’t really hold it up well, but we just sit it down inside the microwave & that works fine as well. Just as long as it’s there to use it is fine!Otherwise it’s been getting daily use & looks brand new still, so I would recommend it!
