The only tool you will ever want to julienne carrots!
After having purchased more than one mandolin in hopes of being able to easily julienne carrots and was always disappointed, and having purchased a different brand of a handheld julienne peeler, I spent the approx $30 bucks on this. I’m amazed that this device beautifully juliennes carrots so easily. The teeth are a bit deeper than some other brands and the blade is extremely sharp. The fact that new blades can be purchased should a blade seem to dull over time is a big plus for me also. If you frequently julienne, or even you only need to do it once, this is the only device you should have. I seldom ever write a review on Amazon, but this device is the only one I will use going forward.

Uncomfortable design
I was surprised that Milk Street would produce a peeler thatâs so uncomfortable to hold. The photo on the left shows the front of the peeler and the photo on the right shows the back, although there really is no back part of the handle. Itâs made of one piece on metal with raw metal sides on the back, and itâs necessary to hold it that way for one of the peeling actions. I had to return it.

This julienne peeler works excellent – itâs very sharp and actually cuts veggies into nice, even julienne strips. However, for the high price, I was expecting perfection, and it fell a bit short. The hollow back with thin edges makes it uncomfortable to use for extended periods, which is disappointing for a tool at this price point.Pro tools can be pricey, but theyâre also supposed to be designed with comfort in mind, and this one doesnât quite hit the mark. Itâs sharp and effective, but not ideal for longer use.
