CRAZY heavy, but it gets the job done and will hold pretty much anything
I purchased this for baking “no knead bread” – I wanted a larger vessel for larger loaves, and it totally fits the bill. Last night I branched out and cooked a round steak serloin roast in it – it was largish- a 2.65 cut of meat. It easily fit. I have to say, it comes really well seasoned, which is greatly appreciated. I line the pot with parchment paper when I’m baking bread in it, so I really haven’t had to clean it yet. The roast was super lean, so it was a very, very fast clean up. It IS super, duper heavy though, but everything made of cast iron is, so there’s that. It does have a nice lid, with a lip, so if I ever wanted to cook with coals I could and it also has a nice, strong folding handle, so if you wanted to hang it over a fire you could do that too.

Wonderful 8 Qt. Dutch Oven
The 8 Qt. Dutch Oven was well packaged on arrival, and is a great value. This is a sturdy cast iron cookware item – thick walled, weighs 19 lbs. empty. Great vale for the price. I washed it when I first received it, coated it with Olive Oil, and placed it in the oven at 350 degrees for an hour. I let it cool down and proceeded to make Camp Chile over a campfire. Had wonderful results with even cooking and non sticking. I would recommend this product with no reservations – you’ll be happy and own it for a lifetime.

This is a pre-seasoned dutch oven. cleaning isn’t fun, but in any dutch oven that’s what gives the flavor. This is a reasonable price & great quality. Used it every weekend camping. don’t recommend using the paper liners you can buy, the food will take on the paper taste.
