great for any meal
I bought this, not because we needed a new one, as we already had a couple of small ones, but because I wanted us to have a no hassle day preparing meals that will last the two of us at least 3 or 4 days. The instructions are very easy to understand, and even holds a few recipes, but the main joy is how it worked. All we have to do is put in the potatoes, veggies and meat, a certain amount of liquid, and 6 or 8 hours later, a really great dish with very tender meat (great recipes can be found on the web). The only time we had a problem (not with the unit) was cooking some chicken a little too long. It came out more grainy, and not very enjoyable, which was a surprise as a previous chicken dish came out so very tender it was insane. There isn’t ever enough room for a LOT of vegetables in these crock pots, and we love a lot of veggies, but still, it holds enough to make several meals for those 3 or 4 days for 2 people each day. We haven’t tried taking any meals to parties or anything yet, so can’t comment on that, but the warmer DOES work great. It is usually started in the morning (I am at work by this time) as my wife turns it on and leaves for work some hours after me. By the time I get home, it is all fully cooked, and the warmer has been on for about 1/2 already, and I just leave it there until she gets back home a couple of hours later, and I serve dinner. It stays nice and hot the whole time. I ooh’d and ah’d over 2 or 3 others before I bought this one, and for what we want, and the price, it was perfect. I would recommend this to anyone who just wants to put in the ingredients, set the timer and forget it.

Great Cook n Carry!
If you like to Cook n Carryâthis is for you. The crock part of my first digital CROCKPOT was broken. After seeing the prices for a new insert I decided to buy a new upgraded model. It takes a long time to heat up to high so I advise preheat! The controls For timing are somewhat limited so I added a few hours so not too bad. The best though is the locking feature. What a pleasure it is to Cook it-Lock itâGO! No other containers needed!! Itâs great! I converted the heavy duty box it came in to a carrier settled on the floor (to avoid sliding) of the carrying area in back of car. No spills or leaks.I like to cook lots of bean-soups-chilies-sauces etc. Leaves my stove burners free for regular cooking. Amazon price was excellentâonly a few dollars more than original bought over 15 years ago. Excellent product. Excellent price. Excellent Delivery.

Reliable
I bought this to test out while I was in Florida. The crock on our last slow cooker final cracked and I have had trouble replacing it. This one isThe closest to my good old reliable slow cooker. I left that one for daughter and plan on purchasing another for myself.

I love mine…
I bought my crockpot in December…I had basically the same thing before (brand-wise), but didn’t have a digital timer, the handles, etc. A long time ago I owned a slow cooker (the basic pot kind that sat on a hot plate). I loved that one because all the steam produced all the liquid needed when cooking stew, etc). My recent old crock pot didn’t do this and it was always the one thing that annoyed me. However, with this one – ah-ha – it does!! You’ll see more about that below – but here are some of the things I’ve noted about this one since I’ve been using it since December.Smell first time using – yes – true to other reviews, but I haven’t smelled it since and it did not effect my food in any way.Countdown of timer – the timer also counts down for you! I didn’t see this in the product information and I love it – no longer do I have to remember what time I started and do my own math…which I forget 3 hours later anyways…was six hours 4 pm or 5 pm?…what time did I start it?…now it tells me 2.34 minutes, etc. So nice!Tempature checked with gasket – there is a little gasket in the lid – you can use this to put a thermometer probe through without removing the lid! I haven’t used it yet because I don’t have one of those thermometers yet…it’s on backorder with Amazon, eh-hm.Secure lid w/ handles – some people didn’t like that the clams on lid make it annoying to put the lid down. I really didn’t find this to be an issue – first of all – I’m a whole lot less tempted to keep opening the lid when it’s clammed down to begin with, which is good – other wise I’m “checking” on it every 30 minutes! I just make sure they are flipped up so sitting on top of the lid and it’s fine. The clamps provides an awesome seal to the pot – I love this because it doesn’t allow steam to escape…thus allowing for the build up of the moisture/steam on the lid and help produce liquid. YES! I have noticed some rippleing of the gasket around the lid, but this doesn’t seem to effect the tightness or seal against the pot when the clamps are in place. I wouldn’t cook something without using the clamps, BTW. They aren’t really optional – at least in my opinion. The lid isn’t heavy enough to procide a good seal until you clamp it down. Like I said – I think this though…keeps me from messing with it.Just so you know why I bought a new one…How/Why last one broke – well I don’t really know why, but the how is that the little black handle on the very top of the lid broke…I’m assuming just normal wear/tear on something I’d owned for ~10 years, but frustrating because then there was no way to lift the lid and everything else on it was still fine. Still if I only had to buy one every 10 years I guess I can live with that. The final thing I’ll say on this one…Cord handles =- Love Them! They are on the back – just two plastic brackets, but you can wrap the cord around these when storing it so it isn’t all over the place.

This crock is boss
This crock-pot is boss. I don’t have time to cook, and can’t afford to eat out so I usually have crackers and cheese for dinner. I am gone all day from 8am to 9pm, and when I get home I don’t feel like cooking. This crock-pot holds a ridiculous amount of food. You can just throw a bunch of food stuffs in it, set it for the day, and leave. When you come home, all your food stuffs have been cooked and are delicious. Crock-pots are great also because you don’t have to be a good cook to make something good in a crock-pot. Once you put your food stuffs in, some magic stuff happens and whatever you put in comes out delicious. As for the design, it is extremely sturdy, easy to clean, easy to use. It’s hefty- but not absurdly heavy like some of the other reviewers mention. I chose this crock-pot because it had lots of good features, but I didn’t necessarily care about the travel features. If you need to travel with your crock-pot, you may want to consider a smaller or lighter model.
